Founded in 1979, the Country Journal is the newest member of the Turley Publications family of quality weekly newspapers. The Country Journal is the paper of record for the sixteen communities that make up the "Hill Towns" of Western Massachusetts. Local issues and local events that are important to local residents are covered by local reporters and correspondents in a way that reflects the rich history and heritage of these rural townships.

When hilltown buyers leave the area to shop, they go to Northampton, Florence, Easthampton, Westfield, Pittsfield, Hadley, Holyoke, Springfield, Lee and Great Barrington. In spite of the fast growing number and strength of local retailers, many products and services are not yet locally available and advertisers are reaching this important market in the Country Journal.
